Rostov – Defending Russian Premier League Champions CSKA Moscow were in town to face last season’s runners up FC Rostov at Olimp-2 Stadium on 2 October.
The yellow and blue supporters of Rostov were ready to cheer their side to victory in a crucial home fixture.
A scoreless first half set the stage for a tight second half.
Rostov finally found the breakthrough through Aleksandru Gatcan in the 66th minute and midfielder Christian Noboa put on the finishing touches in the 90th minute to give Rostov a 2-0 win over CSKA Moscow.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun started the match and was replaced by fellow Iranian teammate Saeid Ezatolahi following the goal from Noboa.
Rostov are currently in the fourth position in the table with sixteen points and trail CSKA by two points.
An away fixture against top of the table Spartak Moscow awaits FC Rostov on 15 October after the international break.
