Team Melli forward Mehdi Taremi put the Red Army in front three minutes before the hour mark but a Taleb Reykani penalty with nine minutes remaining tied up the match at 1-1. Seven minutes later right back Ramin Rezaeian converted penalty to give Persepolis a huge 2-1 victory in front of their home supporters. The penalty was awarded after an apparent foul committed by Ehsan Hajsafi.
