Rostov – Hard to believe but FC Rostov earned their first victory in over one month when they shut out Lokomotiv Moscow 1-0 at home on 24 September.
Dmitry Poloz scored late in the first half on a goal assisted by Aleksandr Yerokhin to give Rostov a 1-0 lead.
Rostov manager Ivan Daniliants definitely felt comfortable with his personnel on the field as he only made one substitution the entire match.
Goalscorer Poloz was subbed off in the 88th minute for Denis Terentyev. Many supporters would agree that Daniliants could have used his other substitutions considering that Yerokhin was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 83rd minute.
Uzbek midfielder Vitali Denisov received the only yellow card of the match for Lokomotiv Moscow when he was booked eight minutes into the second half.
Daniliants was surely relieved at the final whistle as Rostov collected all three points in their 1-0 victory.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun played the full ninety minutes but fellow TM midfielder Saeid Ezatolahi did not make an appearance.
Despite a three game slide, Rostov now sit in the 5th position with thirteen points after eight matches played.
Rostov will host champions CSKA Moscow on 2 October.
