Iran defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 and both goals were scored by Vahid Hashemian.
Team Melli went on to win the Gold at the 98 Asian Games in Thailand after a 2-0 win over Kuwait in the final match in Bangkok, Thailand.
Vahid Hashemian represented Team Melli at two Asian Cups (2000 & 2007) and the 2006 World Cup in Germany before retiring from international football in 2009.
