Esteghlal Khuzestan and Persepolis were in action on 14 March in Asian Champions League as the defending IPL champs drew 1-1 against Qatari club Lekhwiya and Persepolis suffered a 3-1 setback in Doha against Al-Rayyan.
Esteghlal Khuzestan hosted Lekhwiya in Ahvaz and both goals were scored in the first eleven minutes. Hassan Beyt Saeed scored from the penalty spot after seven minutes to put the hosts in front and four minutes later forward Ismael Mohammad equalized for Lekhwiya.
The defending IPL champs sit on top of Group B with seven points and will face Lekhwiya on 10 April in Doha, Qatar.
IPL giants Persepolis took an early lead in the 6th minute through Mehdi Taremi but a brace from Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Tabata and Spanish winger Sergio Garcia gave Al-Rayyan a 3-1 victory in the Qatari capital.
Persepolis sit third in Group D with four points and will host Al-Rayyan on 10 April at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
