Den Haag – It was a tight and tense match between ADO Den Haag and AZ Alkmaar at Kyocera Stadium on 30 October in the Eredivisie.
Twenty-one fouls were committed by ADO while seventeen were committed by AZ.
It was the visiting side that dominated possession and had more shots on goal but AZ were running out of patience as they looked for one goal to get a much needed victory.
The breakthrough finally came in the 87th minute when a cross from Iranian midfielder Alireza Jahanbakhsh was volleyed into the net by forward Robert Muehren past Lithuanian keeper Ernestas Setkus.
Minutes after the goal from Muehren, midfielder Danny Bakker of Den Haag had a header on goal but it was saved by Uruguayan keeper Sergio Rochet to preserve the clean sheet and 1-0 victory.
Midfielder Iliass Bel Hassani was replaced by Muehren in the 66th minute and he definitely took advantage the opportunity as he scored the only goal of the match to give AZ Alkmaar the valuable three points on the road.
AZ Alkmaar will host Ajax on 6 November but they will be looking to earn a win in Europa League group play against Maccabi Tel Aviv away from home on 3 November.
