Esteghlal Tehran and Zob Ahan were back in action on 13 March in Asian Champions group play as both teams faced Uzbek clubs,
A crowd of 42,000 watched Esteghlal defeat Lokomotiv Tashkent 2-0 at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran. Midfielder Farshid Esmaeili put Esteghlal in front with a goal in the 42nd minute and Ali Ghorbani made it 2-0 with six minutes remaining after an excellent solo effort.
Esteghlal now sit on top of Group A with six points and will face Lokomotiv Tashkent away from home on 11 April.
Zob Ahan picked up their first win of 2017 Asian Champions League with a 2-0 win over Bunyodkor Tashkent in the Uzbek capital.
Honduran forward Jerry Bengston took advantage of a defensive mistake to put the Isfahani club in front in the first half and Morteza Tabrizi scored from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to give Zob Ahan a 2-0 win.
Zob Ahan currently sit in third position in Group C with four points and will host Bunyodkor in Isfahan on 11 April.
