Athens – Iranian striker Karim Ansarifard scored the only goal of the match between Panionios and PAOK Thessaloniki on 6 November at Nea Smyrni Stadium.
The Athens based club won their first match in nearly a month. The last victory for Panionios came on 1 October in an away fixture against Iraklis.
Panionios took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on a strike from Ansarifard. The Iranian striker has found the back of the net three times in eight appearances this season for Panionios.
Fellow Team Melli member Masoud Shojaei started at midfield and featured the full ninety minutes while Ansarifard was subbed off for French forward David N’Gog in a tactical change.
The win for Panionios puts them in fourth position of the Greek Super League with thirteen points and will face Atromitos away from home on 19 November.
