Karaj – Looking to avoid one of the bottom three relegation spots, Saipa hosted FC Mashhad on 23 January at Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Mohammad Reza Khalatbari three minutes into the second half in which the referees had to confirm whether the goal would be allowed. Saipa held on for the win and the important three points.
Khalatbari – once a regular for the National Team of Iran – has not been capped for TM since 2013. The shifty forward surely will always be remembered for his stoppage time goal in a 2014 World Cup Qualifier at Tashkent against Uzbekistan in June 2012.
