Parvin played for Iran from 1970 to 1978 and captained Team Melli at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.
Ali Parvin made a name for himself playing for Persepolis from 1970 to 1988, which also included a stint as player/manager.
In 1989, Parvin became head coach of Team Melli and led the team to a Gold Medal finish at the 1990 Asian Games in China.
Parvin scored 8 goals in seventy-six appearances for Team Melli and will always be remembered as the first man to captain Team Melli at the World Cup.
