Tabriz – For the first time since 2008, Persepolis are Iranian Pro League Champions. Head coach Branko Ivankovic was once a hero for Iranian football fans when Iran qualified to World Cup Germany 2006 under his guidance and now he has become a hero to fans of Persepolis, one of the most famous Iranian football clubs.
Ali Alipour got Persepolis off to the perfect start when he scored thirty-one seconds after kickoff and it was only fitting when forward Mehdi Taremi scored from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to give Persepolis a 2-0 victory. The traveling contingent of Persepolis supporters were delighted at the final whistle.
Machine Sazi were the hosts of this match but Mehdi Taremi has been a machine all season finding the back of the net whether he is playing for Persepolis or the National Team of Iran.
