Tehran – Persepolis hosted newly promoted side Machine Sazi at Azadi Stadium on 2 December in a match they had to win considering they were playing against the team occupying the bottom spot of the Iranian Pro League table.
The only goal of the match came in the 22nd minute when a cross from right back Ramin Rezaeian was headed nicely by winger Vahid Amiri past Spanish keeper Manu Fernandez to give Persepolis a 1-0 lead.
Amiri, the winger from Khorramabad, is playing in his first season for Persepolis after making a name for himself with Naft Masjed Soleymand and Naft Tehran.
Croatian keeper Bozidar Radosevic kept a clean sheet for Persepolis as he continues to fill in for injured starter Alireza Beiranvand.
The Tehran based club now find themselves top of the IPL table with twenty-six points due to Tractor Sazi slipping up at home against Padideh in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Persepolis will travel to Mashhad to face Padideh on 8 December while Tractor Sazi will face Esteghlal in Tehran.
