The Iran Pro League resumed as all eyes were on the match-up between Esteghlal Khuzestan and Esteghlal Tehran in Ahvaz.
Esteghlal Tehran took the lead in the first half when former Esteghlal Khuzestan left back Meysam Majidi scored in the 33rd minute.
Esteghlal Khuzestan equalized in the 75th minute through forward Farshad Salarvand. The match finished 1-1 but the point on the road for Esteghlal Tehran could prove to be valuable down the stretch of the IPL. For the home side, it was a missed opportunity to jump back to the top of the table.
At the Azadi Stadium in Tehran, Persepolis took on visitors Siah Jamegan in what turned out to be an entertaining match.
Midfielder Hossein Karimi put Siah Jamegan in the lead after five minutes. Four minutes before the end of the first half, Mehdi Taremi equalized for Persepolis.
At the hour mark, former Persepolis defender Meysam Hosseini scored from the penalty spot to put Siah Jamegan back in the lead at 2-1. Persepolis keeper Sosha Makani received a red card for a hardĀ foul on Hamidreza Aliasgari in the penalty area. Persepolis would have to play the remainder of the match with ten men.
Persepolis refused to give up and equalized once again in the 70th minute through Ali Alipour. Thirteen minutes later Mehdi Taremi added his second goal of the match to give Persepolis a huge 3-2 victory.
Visitors Siah Jamegan had nothing to be happy about as they dropped points despite having a 2-1 lead and a one man advantage for the last thirty minutes of the match. Siah Jamegan currently sit in the third to last positionĀ (fourteenth) and trail Malavan by three points.
Esteghlal Tehran sit in first place in the IPL with forty-four points and are followed by Esteghlal Khuzestan with forty-three points, and Persepolis with forty-two points. Six matches remain for each team in what is turning out to be an exciting season.
