Kerkrade – Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad featured the full ninety minutes in a 3-0 victory for SC Heerenveen over Roda JC on 17 September.
Heerenveen earned an early scoring opportunity when Ghoochannejhad was fouled by Mikhail Rosheuvel outside the penalty area. Sam Larsson took the free kick and scored to give the Friesian club a 1-0 lead after eight minutes.
Home side Roda have yet to win a match this season but they didn’t make things easy for themselves as they were reduced to nine men before the interval.
Abdul Ajagan received his second yellow card in the 34th minute and Christiaan Kum was given his marching orders for a second yellow card right before the end of the first half.
Playing with a two man advantage, Heerenveen finally made the home side pay for their mistakes when Hank Veerman scored in the 68th minute. Veerman took advantage of a defensive mistake by Frederic Ananou to give Heerenveen a 2-0 lead.
Roda were not the only side to have a player sent off as Shay Facey of Heerenveen received his yellow card in the 76th minute.
One minute later Kosovar midfielder Arber Zeneli officially made the match safe with an insurance goal to give Heerenveen a 3-0 lead.
Heerenveen now sit in the fifth position in the Eredivisie table with eleven points and will face ADO Den Haag away from home on 24 September.
