Groningen – The Super Frisians dominated FC Groningen away from home with a convincing 3-0 victory in Eredivisie as club football resumed after the international break.
Heerenveen got on the board early when Kosovar midfielder Arber Zeneli scored his fifth goal of the season in the 7th minute. The move started on a counterattack and Pelle van Amersfoort provided the assist to Zeneli as Heerenveen took a 1-0 lead.
The match remained 1-0 well past the interval until the 74th minute when Swedish forward Sam Larsson found himself one-on-one with Groningen keeper Sergio Padt after receiving a pass from Jerry St. Juste. Larsson prevailed and got the ball past Padt to put Heerenveen up 2-0.
Nine minutes later Heerenveen took advantage of another counterattack and Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad scored his fourth goal of the season on a goal assisted by Luciano Slagveer.
Heerenveen will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak when they host Heracles on 23 October at Abe Lendstra Stadium.
