Iran defeated Turkmenistan 3-1 in the first match of the 2020 Asian U23 qualifiers at Azadi Stadium on 22 March.
An own-goal gave Iran the lead in the first half and Omid Noorafkan fired in a free kick in the second half to double the lead.
Turkmenistan did make the match interesting by cutting the lead late in the second half.
But with time winding down, a free kick from Iran and a huge mistake from the Turkmen goalkeeper allowed Reza Jabireh to head the ball into the net to complete the 3-1 victory.
Iran will face Yemen next on 24 March and close out qualification against Iraq two days later.
