Europa League Update

The Third Round for UEFA Europa League qualifying concluded on 3 August.

Marseille (France) v Oostende (Belgium) 2-4 on aggregate 

Iranian right back Ramin Rezaeian played in the first half for Oostende but a 0-0 draw means that Marseille move on to the next round.

Mlada Boleslav (Czech Rep) v Skenderbeu Korce (Albania) 3-3 on aggregate, Skenderbeu wins 4-2 on penalties

Another huge upset for Skenderbeu Korce after winning 2-1 to force extra time against Mlada. The Albanian club moves on after defeating Mlada on penalties.

Ostersund (Sweden) v Fola Esch (Luxembourg) 2-1 on aggregate

Iranian-Swedish midfielder Saman Ghoddos started and played in the first half after missing the first leg due to injury.

Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) v Panionios (Greece) 2-1 on aggregate

Another 1-0 loss means that Greek side Panionios have been eliminated from Europa League. Ehsan Hajsafi and Masoud Shojaei played the full ninety minutes but were unable to help their side find a goal to make the match interesting.

Botev Plovdiv (Bulgaria) v Maritimo (Portugal) 0-2 on aggregate

Maritimo advance and we are still waiting to see keeper Amir Abedzadeh make his debut for the Portuguese club.
