Rostov – Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun continues to show why he is a world class finisher in football as he helped Rostov earn a 2-1 victory at home against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Eight minutes into the match, defender Fyodor Kudryashov received a pass and carried the ball into the left side of the penalty area where he centered the ball to Sardar Azmoun. The Iranian striker tapped the ball in with ease past keeper Guilherme to give Rostov a 1-0 lead. Azmoun has scored in three consecutive matches for FC Rostov.
In stoppage time of the first half, Rostov had a bit of luck to help them out when a long shot from Christian Noboa deflected off the head of Dmitri Tarasov and went past Guilherme to give Rostov a huge 2-0 lead going into the interval.
Lokomotiv Moscow got themselves back in the game when Serbian forward Petar Skuletic headed in a cross from Aleksandr Samedov seven minutes into the second half.
Rostov held firm for the 2-1 victory and the all important three points. At the moment Rostov are at the top of the table in the Russian Premier League but CSKA Moscow have a game in hand and still need to play Terek Grozny tomorrow in Moscow.
