Iran defeated Uzbekistan in a friendly match on 11 September at Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent.
The only goal of the match was scored by midfielder Mehdi Torabi in the 67th minute. Ali Gholizadeh made a nice run and got the ball to Saeid Ezatolahi.
Saeid provided the perfect pass that was finished off by Torabi in what turned out to be the only goal of the match.
Three years ago at the same venue, Torabi also scored the only goal to give Iran a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan.
Going back to the most recent match, Amir Abedzadeh started in goal for Iran and sometimes I start to wonder if he might challenge Alireza Beiranvand for the starting job.
But after Beiranvand’s performance at the 2018 World Cup, it is hard for me to see another keeper taking the job away from Beiro.
