Alkmaar – Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar continued their run of good form with a 2-0 home win over Willem II on 10 September.
Iranian winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh put AZ in the lead in the 19th minute with a lethal left footed shot from outside the penalty area.
AZ were on the attack and the ball was about to be cleared to safety by the Willem defense but AZ midfielder Joris van Overeem got in front of the clearance that enabled the ball to go right to a wide open Jahanbakhsh.
The Iranian winger blasted his shot past helpless WIllem keeper Kostas Lamprou to give AZ Alkmaar a 1-0 lead.
The match remained 1-0 until Levi Garcia scored in the second minute of stoppage time to give AZ Alkmaar a 2-0 victory.
Next up for AZ Alkmaar: a road fixture against PEC Zwolle on 18 September but first they will face Irish Premier League side FC Dundalk at home to begin Europa League group stage play on 15 September.
