Alanya – Iranian forward Sajjad Shahbazzadeh has signed with Alanyaspor of the Turkish Super League.
Shahbazzadeh was a member of Saipa from 2010 to 2014 and played for Esteghlal Tehran the last two seasons of the Iranian Pro League.
The twenty-six year-old forward from Ardabil was called up by Team Melli on a preliminary lists for World Cup Qualifiers against India and Oman back in March but did not make an appearance for the National Team of Iran.
Alanyaspor will be making their first appearance in the Turkish Super League after gaining promotion the hard way in the 2015-16 season.
With sixty-one points after thirty-four matches played, Alanyaspor finished third in the Turkish First League table, one point shy of an automatic promotion spot.
Alanyaspor defeated Balıkesirspor 1-0 on aggregate in the promotion semi-finals and tied Adana Demirspor 1-1 after one hundred and twenty minutes but prevailed 4-2 on a penalty shootout to advance to the Turkish Super League in dramatic fashion.
