Amsterdam – Similar to what took place in Russia with TM footballers, the same happened in the Eredivisie as Reza Ghoochannejhad and Alireza Jahanbakhsh tried to help their clubs to victories but came up with draws.
SC Heerenveen controlled possession at home against Vitesse but fell behind in the 72nd minute when Lewis Baker put the visitors in front on a goal assisted by Kelvin Leerdam.
Heerenveen manager Jurgen Streppel made three changes in a span of eleven minutes to shake things up and replaced Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad with Henk Veerman.
Streppel’s moves turned out to be successful as Veerman received a pass from Sam Larsson in the 84th minute and fired in the equalizer.
Heerenveen earned a 1-1 draw with Vitesse and will host Ajax on 27 November.
AZ Alkmaar were on the road against Roda JC but fell behind six minutes before the end of the first half on a goal scored by Abdul Ajagun.
Right before the hour mark Wout Weghorst volleyed in a pass from Mats Seuntjes to level the score.
The draw for AZ mean they now sit in fifth position of Eredivisie with twenty-one points and trail Heerenveen by two points.
AZ Alkmaar will return home to host Heracles on 27 November but they have a busy week ahead of them as they will travel to Ireland for a Group D Europa League clash against Irish club Dundalk on 24 November.
