Deventer – Iranian striker Reza Ghoochannejhad scored two goals in the first half against his former club as SC Heerenveen defeated Go Ahead Eagles 3-1 on 3 December.
Forward Darren Maatson gave the Go Ahead Eagles a 1-0 lead when he scored a goal in the 7th minute.
Thirteen minutes Heerenveen equalized through Reza Ghoochannejhad as he received a pass from Sam Larsson to level the score.
Seven minutes later the Iranian striker got on the score sheet again when his header got past keeper Theo Zwarthoed.
Right before the end of the first half, Japanese midfielder Yuki Kobayashi scored to give Heerenveen a 3-1 lead.
Surprisingly there were no goals scored in the second half but visitors Heerenveen clearly were satisfied with the result as they gained a valuable three points.
It surely was a good day for Ghoochannejhad against his former club as he had two stints with Go Ahead Eagles.
In 2006-07, Gucci was loaned out by Heerenveen to Go Ahead Eagles and scored four goals in thirteen appearances.
Two years later the Iranian striker from Mashhad returned to Deventer on a one-year deal and found the back of the net six times in ten appearances.
Soon after Ghoochannejhad made a name for himself at Cambuur and eventually found success in Belgium where he appeared on the radar of Iranian national team head coach Carlos Queiroz.
Heerenveen are now fourth in the Eredivsie table with twenty-six points as they moved ahead of AZ Alkmaar after their 3-3 draw with Excelsior.
Reza Ghoochannejhad now has seven goals this season and will look to increase his goal tally when Heerenveen host Excelsior on 10 December.
