In Muscat, Esteghlal Tehran got off to the perfect start against Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun when Kaveh Rezaei scored after only one minute. There were no more goals until Mohsen Karimi and Leandro Padovani put on the finishing touches late in the second half to give Esteghlal Tehran an excellent 3-0 victory.
In Abu Dhabi, Esteghlal Khuzestan defeated Emirati club Al-Jazira 1-0 with the only goal of the match scored by Cameroonian striker Aloys Nong after only forty-seven seconds. Esteghlal Khuzestan now sit on top of Group B with maximum points from two matches.
