Åsane – Iranian keeper Sosha Makani and Mjøndalen earned a huge 4-1 victory over home side Åsane in the OBOS-ligaen.
After eleven minutes, Mjøndalen were on the attack and a cross from the left by Lars Fuhre was met by Senegalese forward Ousseynou Boye in the penalty area. Boye was at a bad angle when he got a touch on the ball but it somehow found its way past keeper Erik Oestgaard and into the corner of the net to give Mjøndalen a 1-0 lead.
Ten minutes later a corner kick from Joachim Solberg Olsen was headed in by William Sell to extend Mjøndalen’s lead to 2-0.
Mjøndalen went into the interval with a 2-0 lead but it was Åsane that cut the lead in half when captain Geir Andre Herrem converted a penalty kick five minutes after the restart.
Soon after Herrem came close to tying up the score when he received a long ball and carried it deep into the Mjøndalen penalty area. Keeper Makani came out to challenge Herrem, held his ground, and made a crucial reflex save to avoid the ball going between his legs.
Minutes later a free kick for Åsane was deflected but defender Martin Ueland had a left footed volley parried by Makani.
In the 81st minute, Boye got his second goal of the match when he took advantage of a giveaway and chipped the ball beautifully over keeper Oestgaard to give Mjøndalen a 3-1 lead.
Midfielder Erik Midtgarden added the exclamation point when he beat Oestgaard at the near side in the 90th minute to give Mjøndalen a 4-1 victory but more importantly, the win moves them into the seventh position with thirty-one points, trailing sixth place Kongsvinger on goal difference for the final promotion play-off spot.
Iranian keeper Sosha Makani was solid in goal and is unbeaten in two starts. Mjøndalen will host second place side Sandefjord on 22 August in what will surely be an entertaining match.
