Frankfurt – FSV Frankfurt took on relegation bound MSV Duisburg in a match that produced six goals at the Frankfurter Volksbank Stadium.
Iranian defender Ehsan Hajsafi opened the scoring in the 5th minute off a scramble in the penalty area to put the home side up 1-0.
Later in the first half Duisburg nearly found the equalizer but keeper Andre Weis made an excellent stop with his foot on a shot from Tomane to keep FSV in the lead.
Three minutes into the second half, Hungarian midfielder Zsolt Kalmar extended Frankfurt’s lead to 2-0.
Ten minutes later, MSV forward Stanislav Iljutcenko took advantage of a scramble in the penalty area to cut the lead to 2-1. Iljutcenko had only been on the field for two minutes after coming on for midfielder Dennis Grote.
In the 65th minute, excellent ball movement from FSV created an opportunity in the Duisburg penalty area. Defender Kevin Wolze broke a cardinal rule in football by clearing the ball towards the center. Brazilian midfielder Yann Rolim made the visitors pay by perfectly curling the ball into the net and extending Frankfurt’s lead to 3-1.
Forward Taiwo Awoniyi nearly made it a 4-1 lead but MSV keeper Michael Ratajczak made a nice save to keep his team alive.
In the 75th minute, Nigerian forward Kingsley Onuegbu came on as a substitute for Tomane. One minute later, Onuegbu cut the lead to 3-2. Onuegbu received a pass from teammate Giorgi Chanturia and easily faked out FSV defender Shawn Barry to fire the ball past Weis.
Minutes later Frankfurt midfielder Marc-André Kruska curled a free kick around the wall with his right foot but once again it was Ratajczak who made another fine diving save.
In the 90th minute, center back Thomas Meissner completed the comeback by chesting down a cross in the penalty area, faking out captain Manuel Konrad, and finished it off by firing the ball in with his left.
Duisburg still sit at the bottom of Bundesliga 2 with fourteen points but this was a well earned point on the road while Frankfurt know they let two valuable points slip away in front of their home fans.
