Alkmaar – Iranian midfielder Alireza Jahanbakhsh had a great day as he scored the second goal of a match in a victory against his former club NEC Nijmegen.
Forward Dabney dos Santos put AZ Alkmaar in front two minutes before the end of the first half with a diving header.
Jahanbakhsh made the match safe for AZ Alkmaar when he scored his second goal of the season in the 73rd minute to give his side a 2-0 lead.
The Iranian midfielder has been impressive thus far for AZ Alkmaar and he first made a name for himself in Dutch football during his two year stint at NEC Nijmegen where he scored seventeen goals in fifty-five appearances.
Jahanbakhsh hopes to feature for Iran in the upcoming world cup qualifying matches against Qatar and China that will take place on the first and sixth of September.
AZ Alkmaar will face Willem II at home on 10 September after the international break.
