In simple English, this past week was not a good one for our TM footballers in Europe.

In the Championship, Reza Ghoochannejhad was not in action for Charlton in their 2-1 road loss to Queens Park Rangers. In Portugal, Maritimo were defeated on the road 3-1 by Sporting CP and keeper Alireza Haghighi continues to be hampered with injury.

Defender Ehsan Hajsafi played the full ninety minutes for FSV Frankfurt in a 4-1 loss at Bochum in Bundesliga 2. FSV continue to lose but they also continue to dodge bullets as the teams behind them also continue to drop points.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh and AZ Alkmaar have dropped to the sixth position in the Eredivisie after losing at SC Heerenveen 4-2. Jahanbakhsh started but was substituted out ten minutes into the second half.

Karim Ansarifard played the full match and got his name in the book as Panionios were defeated 2-0 on the road against AEK Athens in the Greek Super League.

In the Russian Premier League, Rostov were unable to keep pace at the top of the table as they were held to a scoreless draw at Anzhi Makhachkala. Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun started but was subbed out after sixty-one minutes. Iranian teammate Saeid Ezatolahi was available on the bench but has yet to make an appearance this season. Rostov currently sit in second place with forty-five points and trail CSKA Moscow by one point.

Milad Mohammadi came on as a substitute in the 86th minute for Terek Grozny in a 1-0 loss on the road to FC Ufa.
