Iranian goalkeeper Sosha Makani made his debut appearance for Mjøndalen in a home match against Ull/Kisa in the Norwegian First Division.

Makani was in good form during the match and made a nice save to help himself earn a clean sheet. Mjøndalen were the better side in this match and came close to scoring when forward Amahl Pellegrino hit the post in the first half.

The home side could have had a better second half but defender Ulrik Arneberg received a straight red card for a dangerous foul with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Mjøndalen are currently one point shy of the last play-off spot with twenty-eight points and occupy the seventh position in the league table. Mjøndalen will face sixth placed Aasane on 14 August in what should be an entertaining match.

In the Russian Premier League, Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun received a straight red card in the 23rd minute in a scoreless draw between Rostov and visitors FC Ural that also produced seven yellow cards.

Iranian midfielder Saeid Ezatolahi featured for Rostov when he came on for Timofei Kalachev in the 78th minute.

Azmoun will be suspended for the next match when Rostov will visit Zenit St. Petersburg on 12 August.
