Asian Champions League action continued on 9 May as Esteghlal Tehran and Esteghlal Khuzestan booked spots in the ACL knockout phase.
In Group A, Esteghlal Tehran defeated Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun 2-1 in Doha with goals from Jaber Ansari and Kaveh Rezaei.
Esteghlal Khuzestan clinched the second spot in Group B with a late equalizer from Mehdi Zobeydi against Emirati club Al-Jazira in Ahvaz.
Al-Jazira took the lead through Humaid Ahmed late in the first half but midfielder Zobeydi level the scores in the 86th minute as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Esteghlal Tehran will face Emirati club Al-Ain in the knockout phase while Esteghlal Khuzestan will face Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. Esteghlal Tehran will host Al-Ain on 22 May in Tehran and Esteghlal Khuzestan will host Al-Hilal at a neutral location on 23 May.
