Goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi and four other members of Team Melli were in action in Europe this weekend.

On Saturday, Reza Ghoochannejhad came on for Charlton in the 89th minute of a 4-3 loss at home against Reading. Charlton remain at the bottom of the Championship table with 25 points and are in danger of being relegated with twelve games remaining.

Today in the Greek Super League, forward Karim Ansarifard was in action for Panionios for only twelve minutes. Ansarifard was red-carded and had to watch the remainder of the match from the locker room as visitors Levadiakos beat Panionios 2-0.

Defender Ehsan Hajsafi played the full ninety minutes and received a yellow card for FSV Frankfurt in a scoreless stalemate at Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Alireza Jahanbakhsh had a productive outing for AZ Alkmaar in a 4-1 road loss to Dutch giants Ajax. Jahanbakhsh sent in a long ball that led to a goal for Vincent Janssen in the 65th minute. However, a brace from Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik and midfielder Davy Klassen were too much for AZ to handle.

In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, keeper Alireza Haghighi earned his first clean sheet and second consecutive victory with Maritimo. Last week’s hero, Senegalese striker Baba Diawara, scored the only goal of the match in the 49th minute to give Maritimo a 1-0 victory over visitors Academica.
